Will people need to track their calories?

Absolutely not! Counting calories or logging meals rarely works, is tedious and time-consuming, and can even encourage bad habits  (it’s much easier to log an unhealthy frozen dinner or packaged snack than something you cooked yourself using real-food ingredients). Diet ID provides a better and easier way by tracking habits and rewarding you for good choices. Most registered dietitians, nutritionists, and health professionals will tell you NOT to count calories because not all calories are created equal, it’s impossible to count accurately, and counting calories tends to be  more cumbersome with fresh, healthy food.

Instead of counting calories, we’re simply asking you to track good choices—one habit at a time—with a simple one-tap check-in. We know monitoring your habits with simple goals works (e.g. Fitbit, runkeeper, etc), and all you need to do is track the one habit you’re working on. By celebrating small daily wins and focusing on progress over perfection, you’ll build sustainable, lifelong habits, and actually enjoy the process along the way.
