What information / data does Diet ID collect from the individual?

Diet ID needs a limited amount of information in order to generate a comprehensive dietary analysis and personalized nutrition plan. Unless an we have an integration set up with a partner, all data we collect from the individual is self-reported.

REGISTRATION

If Diet ID is deployed as a stand-alone solution, we collect:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email address
  • Password
  • Zip code (optional)

Or

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Phone number
  • Zip code (optional)

Partners can decide to suppress email address registration or phone number registration, but both options are available by default.

If Diet ID is deployed in research

In most IRB-approved research studies, we do not collect any Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Instead, we provide our research partners with a unique activation code (alpha-numeric) for each individual. The research partner will assign an activation code to each study participant, but will not share any participant's information (e.g. name) with Diet ID.

If Diet ID is integrated into a platform

For example, if you are deploying Diet ID with our Epic integration or our Virgin Pulse integration, your members will not create a NEW account directly on the Diet ID platform. Instead, when they visit Diet ID, they will use our Single-Sign-On solution (SSO), where the member will be asked to log in with their Epic or Virgin Pulse log-in credentials.

In either case, Diet ID creates a new user within our system. We DO NOT receive the actual log-in credentials from the partner; we instead use the SSO solution to automatically sign in the user. In some cases, partners may pass additional data points to us via the SSO integration.

USER EXPERIENCE

In order for Diet ID to generate a comprehensive dietary analysis, we collect some additional self-reported data from the individual, which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Food group intake (e.g. meat, poultry, fish)
  • Food stylistic preference (e.g. South Asian style, Low carb style)
  • Dietary restrictions (e.g. dairy, gluten, shellfish, etc.)
  • Personal details (required):
    • Gender
    • If female, pregnancy and/or lactation status
    • Age
    • Height
    • Weight
    • Activity level (5 categories)
    • Weight trend
  • If our Goal Setting Module is enabled, then we ask the individual if they have any health goals. This is a multi-select list (note, partners can suppress certain health goals from being offered):
    • Improve heart health
    • Control blood pressure
    • Prevent and control diabetes
    • Immunity support
    • Improve overall health
    • Manage weight - weight loss
    • Manage weight - maintenance
    • Manage weight - weight gain
    • Manage heart failure
    • Manage high cholesterol
    • Manage food sensitivities
    • Improve gut health
    • Manage menopause
    • Manage kidney health
    • Manage PCOS

Based on the data collected above, we can generate a comprehensive nutrition plan. Here is the list of data we generate in real time.
